Where once page layout was the domain of the professional ‘compositor’ now using word processing software we can all do it! ... or can we?

If your job is headed to print make more of your investment with a standard of presentation which does justice to your investment. We offer a full graphic design studio service, ranging from minor tweaking of your own setting to full design and page layout. Our studio team have extensive experience in page layout, from leaflets to newsletters and books (we primarily use Quark Design on the Mac). We can help with copy and offer an image sourcing service (from picture libraries). We can also assist with product photography (which we do in-house) or location photography (we know a good photographer!).

Often we receive text and pictures together with a rough layout and produce visuals for your review. Overwhelmingly our customers tell us the result is a professional document which is just the ticket!

Software to Make Life Easier!

There’s the software we use... and there’s the software you use! Where once issues of compatibility were barriers to printing today our normal response to 'I've used such and such software' is normally 'that should be fine'! At our end we are primarily Mac based and use the main tools of the trade; QuarkXpress, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign. We are also experienced with PC software ranging from Microsoft Office packages to popular publishing packages like Microsoft Publisher, Serif PagePlus and Corel Draw.

The great breakthrough to make all our lives easier has been the increasing use of PDF format files. A properly created PDF means you can use your choice of software and supply it to us without worrying whether we have the same version of software or have the fonts you have used. If you have yet to try creating a PDF take a look at Cute PDF and, because the settings are so important, you may find our ‘PDF Top Tips’ useful.
