From Tortoise Hill - Self published Book

We worked closely with Mary Sheaff, a lovely octogenarian, to produce this compelling book recalling her lifetime of experiences in central China. We helped with the setting and cover design. We asked Mary to add her own comments here so in her words...
'My family lived in inland China for several generations and were there through a time of political unrest and turmoil, with floods and famines sometimes adding to the suffering. As they were missionaries they lived among the Chinese, often in isolated places. Their stories and those of their friends reflected the lives of ordinary people who lived through those turbulent years. I felt their stories were worth sharing and for a long time I searched for a printer who would be supportive while I tried to deal with controversial issues in a sensitive way. The people at Orphans Press were just what I needed and they all, printers, designers, and anyone who spoke to me on the phone were committed to the book, working with me as a team. To hold the finished production in my hands and to look at the design, the quality of the paper and the way the old photographs have been produced is sheer joy - only surpassed by the way the sales are going!'
