We're very keen on all aspects of printing books, from longer run to shorter (our new Indigo press gives us great flexibility in this area). We are particularly pleased to have helped so many local history groups and smaller 'self-publishers' who we have worked closely with to guide them from manuscript to printed book. There are fewer hurdles now to writing, printing and publishing a book so if it is an area you would like to explore please get in touch.
Often our customers provide the manuscript in a file for us to develop a cover and layout style. We know your potential readers do not all abide by the old adage 'don't judge a book by its cover'; so please consider our even wiser, alternative adage, 'the stronger your cover and layout design, the better your chance of publishing success'. We've enjoyed helping a number of customers with cover designs which are pleasing on the eye and page layouts which draw the reader in. Of course ultimately the substance of the book is critical but the quality of other ingredients, including photography and illustrations, are key to enhancing the presentation of your work.
Please take a look at the examples on the right (a number produced in conjunction with our good friend and respected book publisher, Jerry Johns of www.polperropress.co.uk) to see how a little bit of Orphans design has contributed to the presentation of these titles.
