Rockhopper Copper Perfect Bound Book
Do you know where the most remote populated island in the world is? In truth we didn't but we're very happy to have worked alongside a notable resident of Tristan da Cunha (population 300) in the middle of the South Atlantic (if you're thinking of visiting make sure you allow for the 6 weeks voyage by boat from South Africa!). Conrad Glass the author of Rockhopper Copper holds many and varied positions on the island, including Chief Islander and Police Inspector. His family has lived there for over 100 years and Conrad is well placed to recount many tales of the island and paint the picture of its landscape, people, history and wildlife. The Rockhopper, the title of the book, refers to a breed of penguin found on the island, which gives some indication of the proximity of Tristan.
There is a good story to be told of how in all the world Conrad came to choose Orphans Press to print his first book ... but we're just pleased he did! Pictured below are Conrad with Sheila in our office (taken by Chris Bates who helped edit the book for Conrad - Chris has recently returned from a trip to Tristan and recommends it as a break from the norm!).

The book (which we set as well as producing the cover design) is 170 pages with lovely colour pictures throughout. Now with sales of 1,000 copies it is about to be published for a second time. The book has recently sold out but Conrad is planning a re-print shortly (please contact us if you would be interested in a copy when available).
We've added a selection of pages to our 'PageTurner' version of the book below - use the mouse to click and drag open the pages.
