Indigo Digital Printing. A Word About The Quality.
Many digital services use toner based solutions derived from photocopier technology; they normally have a different look and feel to what you would expect from litho printing results. Orphans have invested in a 7 colour liquid ink HP Indigo 3050 digital printing press which provides a superb print result most often indistinguishable from our Heidelberg presses. The paper handling is also excellent and allow us to print on coated or uncoated stock from 100gsm to 350gsm in perfect register (i.e. the front of a page is exactly in line with the back). The quality of printing means we can match your requirements to the appropriate press. Here are just a few of the attributes of the Indigo;
- Superb 4 colour printing using liquid inks - option to 'go hexachrome' using special orange and violet inks to create high impact colour beyond the normal colour gamut
- Straight to print - from your approved PDF to print in minutes
- High speed printing - up to 2,000 colour A3 sides per hour (or 8,000 black only); also duplexes in perfect register
- Variable data personalisation - link your artwork to a database to personalise your documents with text and images
- Collates as it prints -the Indigo has two feed trays so we can output a report or book printed in order with a thicker cover (ideal for wire bound reports or calendars)
Digital or Litho?
For certain work there is no issue; a long run print job must head towards our main litho presses; a personalised, variable data flyer must be a digital job. For certain others the route is less clear cut. Here we can advise on the most cost effective solution perhaps also taking consideration of your timings. For us the combination of both litho and digital printing opens lots of complementary options and allows us to offer a more flexible and responsive service.
