With such a wide variety of web browsers and assistive technologies out there it's becoming increasing more important to build websites to accepted standards of the web industry and also guidlines that help improve accessibility and search engine positioning.
All websites are written in a language called HTML but even with this common underpinning there are actually countless different ways to acheive a desired on-screen design or layout. Unless you follow web standards you may fnd that your method: (a) does not look consistent across a range of common browsers, (b) is not accessible to users with disabilities or (c) does not lend itself to good search engine performance.
We create all of our websites with web standards as a priority. Each one is tested across a large range of browsers and on a variety of operating systems so you can be sure each of your customers sees the same thing that you see. Following standards also helps us ensure (the best we can) that your website will continue to work in future browsers and on less used platforms such as mobile devices.

An often overlooked area is web accessibilty. We try to ensure that everything we produce adheres to guidlines set out by W3C (The World Wide Web Consortium) so that users with varying disabilities can efficiently navigate through your website. This includes people with common forms of colour blindness and people who may use a screen reader.
Some websites require extra attention to detail in this respect (for example if a significant proportion your vistiors may have disabilities) and in these cases we do take extra precautions to make sure your website is fully accessible and we'll do very thorough tests throughout its development.
