Laravel Developer

We are growing our web team and have an opportunity for a developer who is enthusiastic to build feature-rich bespoke websites and web apps. 

This role calls for a professional level of PHP & Laravel knowledge, as well as at least general working knoweldge of a modern web development stack. Commerical development experience is ideal but this role may fit a new graduate (or anyone entering the industry for the first time) if they can demonstrate the necessary aptitude and examples of relevant acaemic/hobby Laravel projects.

Fundamental Laravel and JavaScript knowledge is essential. Experience with Drupal or an keenness to learn about development on that framework would be a notable advantage. Ideally, you will have experience of linking into other software through web APIs.

Our developers have a close working relationship with our extended team and customers throughout each project's lifespan so the ability to scope requirements, operate as part of a team, and communicate ideas clearly is essential.

More than anything we are keen to hear from candidates who are enthusiastic about the latest in web development and will take an active role in keeping our company on the leading edge.

Key skills:

  • Strong PHP and Laravel knowledge
  • JavaScript (modern framework experience, e.g. Vue, React, Alpine)
  • CSS & HTML
  • Programming to handle large datasets
  • A good eye for visual accuracy and usability

  • A methodical approach with a keen eye for detail
  • A continuous desire for learning and staying up to date with industry knowledge
  • Self-driven and comfortable working independently or with others
  • Good communication (within a team and with clients)

Orphans operate from two sites, in Leominster and Hereford. As a creative agency, we do like to encourage at least some shared office time so teams can intermingle and share ideas more naturally. We are flexible about working arrangements though; some of our team work remotely, others are office based, and some prefer a more hybrid approach.
